redundant connection

We utilize connections to multiple backbones to ensure that data reaches the end-user in the fastest, most efficient manner possible. apache+mod_rewrite

Our server configuration includes the latest (although usually highly-modified) version of Apache configured with many additional modules, including mod_rewrite and suexec.  We can also add modules on-demand when requested by users, as long as they pass our rigorous internal security and stability checks.  

control panel

Our online control panel is a restricted web site through which users can make immediate adjustments to their account, ranging from adding additional mailboxes to analyzing server logs to upgrading their account on the spot.

PHP 5, Perl 5

All our accounts have full access to advanced programming languages including PHP4, Perl 5, Python and TCL.  A full development environment is provided through Telnet or via FTP.  Please note that our development environment may only be used for creating programs associated with your web site.

custom error pages

By taking advantage of our custom error page feature, your can rest assured that even when you get a broken link on your page, or any other problem, you won't lose your visitors.  This feature allows you to create pages in the same style as your web site that are displayed in case of any sort of error (missing files, etc.)

password protection

All of our accounts fully support standard Apache password-protection which allows you to secure an area of your web site (whether certain directories, or files) and only allow access to those visitors who have a special password you set.

Our servers fully support standard Apache .htaccess directives, and can be combined with our variety of additional modules (such as mod_rewrite) creating a super-powerful solution for most any advanced user.  From redirection to custom URL re-writing; the possibilities are unlimited with this powerful feature.

FTP services access

With our around-the-clock server FTP access, you can rest assured that whether it is at 2pm on a busy day, or 2am on a quiet night, you'll be able to easily and painlessly update your pages using any FTP-compliant product, such as WS_FTP or CuteFTP.  FTP allows you to edit, add and delete pages, easily and on the fly.  

ssh access

For the savvy user, ThinkHost offers full SSH access for all account levels.  Often restricted by other providers due to security reasons (often only due to lack of competence by the administrators), when properly secured, SSH and telnet offers a truly advanced, super-powerful development environment.

server-side includes

By using SSI, users can include output from CGI scripts and other files into their web pages.  For example, our own site uses SSI to include the header and footers into all our pages.  This saves significant time on edits, when instead of updating 500 pages, we can update just one. SSI is included with all our accounts. 

raw logs and stats

Our server configuration allows you to download log files detailed information about your visitors -- where they are coming from, what browser they use, and much more.  You can then use your own analyzer to read in the logs, or you can use the powerful Webalizer software provided free by ThinkHost to get detailed statistical reports.
